Nehemiah 1- A prayer made by Nehemiah for the Israelites and for the rebuilding the wall
Neh 1:8 “Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, 9 but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’”
Chapter one is Nehemiah’s prayer after he learns of the persecution of the Israelites in Jerusalem. A little background: Judah and Jerusalem falls, the Jews are exiled to Babylon around 586 B.C. Nearly half a century later the Jews are allowed to rebuilt their Temple. Around this time the Jews who had gone back to Jerusalem faced persecution. The reports of this were given to Nehemiah who was working as a cup-bearer to the King of Persia.
When we look at the first chapter of Nehemiah we can see three things:
- The person God uses has a burden for His people
- A vision for His purpose
- A commitment to His purpose
One thing which God showed us all, and I believe the gift which He has given to us all: is to serve one another!!
1 Pet. 4:10-11
Look after for each other and serve wholeheartedly with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything we do God will be glorified.!! It’s not us but Him who is to be glorified even in the silliest things we do!!
